About SparkLab

Hands-On Learning That Builds Real Confidence

SparkLab Camp is a hands-on summer camp where curiosity turns into confidence and ideas come to life. Designed for children ages 6–12, SparkLab blends STEM exploration with creative arts through engaging, project-based activities.

Campers experiment, design, build, and create while learning how things work — and how they work best as learners and teammates. Through collaboration, presentations, and team challenges, campers develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The program is developed in accordance with the standards of the Alberta Camping Association (ACA), which are closely aligned with those of the Canadian and American Camping Associations. These standards provide a comprehensive framework that supports safe, consistent, and appropriate supervision for all campers, including those participating in hands‑on STEAM activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Campers ages 6–12 are eligible to enroll. All campers must be at least 6 years old and no older than 12 years old on January 1, 2026. We understand this may be disappointing, but we're unable to make exceptions to the age requirement.
SparkLab Camp works hard to support every camper's success. While we strive to accommodate individual needs wherever possible, our staffing model does not allow for 1:1 support. If your child has an Educational Assistant (EA) at school for behaviour-related needs, they must attend camp with a qualified support person.

All campers must be fully independent in the washroom, as camp staff are not permitted to provide this type of assistance.

Full disclosure of all medical, behavioural, or support needs is required in the Camper Medical and Behavioural section at registration. Failure to provide accurate information may result in the participant being removed from camp without refund.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer half-day or part-time enrollment options. Families are welcome to choose a modified attendance schedule for their child; however, the full enrollment fee still applies.
SparkLab Camp follows the Alberta Camping Association (ACA) standards — a 1:10 camper-to-staff ratio.
All lost and found items will be kept at camp until the end of the final week of the season. Unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity. Lost items cannot be shipped. We strongly encourage families to label all belongings. SparkLab Camp is not responsible for the damage, loss, or theft of any personal items brought to camp.
Registration is open! Click the Register Now button at the top of this page or email us at info@sparklabkids.ca to get started.
Absolutely! All activities are first and foremost STEAM-based and fully gender-neutral. Themes are designed around the interests of children ages 6–12. If your child enjoys Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Mathematics, they'll have a great week — no matter which theme they choose!
Special guests may visit throughout the summer to enhance our programming, as health and safety guidelines allow. Campers may have opportunities to meet scientists, researchers, artists, and other professionals who help bring our STEAM themes to life!
Core camp runs 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Optional extended care is available: early drop-off from 8:00 a.m. and late pick-up until 5:00 p.m.
No — and we request that they do not. SparkLab is a 100% tech-free camp. All learning happens through hands-on, unplugged activities.
All children must be signed in at drop-off and signed out at pick-up by an authorized adult (18+). Every authorized adult must present a physical, government-issued photo ID every day — digital copies cannot be accepted. No exceptions.

If you need to add someone to your child's Approved Pick-Up List, email coordinator@sparklabcamp.ca with subject line "Update: Approved Pick up list".
No. For the safety of all participants, campers are not permitted to leave the camp location at any time without permission. Every camper must be signed out by an authorized adult (18+) listed on the Approved Pick-Up List. No waivers or exceptions are available.
As much as possible, yes. However, this depends on enrollment for any given week. We cannot guarantee exact age groupings prior to the camp week.
Camp staff are not trained or authorized to administer medication, with limited exceptions for life-threatening emergencies:
  • EpiPen during a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Glucagon for severe hypoglycemia (Type 1 Diabetes)
  • Inhaler during a severe asthmatic episode
All other medications must be self-administered by the camper or by a parent/guardian who returns to camp. There are no medically trained personnel on site.
Yes! At least one staff member holds current First Aid and CPR certification at all times.
SparkLab Camp is a nut-aware camp. We ask all families to send only peanut-free and nut-free items in lunches and snacks. Please note that staff do not monitor compliance or search bags, and our facility may be shared with groups not affiliated with SparkLab. For this reason, we are nut-aware rather than nut-free.
If your child is showing cold, flu, or communicable illness symptoms (e.g. Chicken Pox, Pink Eye, Hand Foot & Mouth, Lice, COVID-19), please keep them home. Follow public health guidelines for when they can return. Absences due to illness are not refundable per our Cancellation Policy.
On or before June 19, 2026: Full refund minus a $50 non-refundable registration fee per camper, per session. Request must be made in writing to info@sparklabcamp.ca.

As of June 20, 2026: A $100 cancellation fee per camper, per session applies. Refund requests after a camp session has begun will not be accepted.

Before/After Care: Refundable at any time, provided cancellation is made at least one full business day before the start of the camp week.

If SparkLab must cancel a session, a full refund will be issued.
Yes, with at least 7 days' notice. Switching is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Email info@sparklabcamp.ca to request a week switch.
We suggest that parents evaluate their situation closely prior to enrolling. If a child indicates they didn't have fun, we strongly encourage giving it another day — children often focus on one thing they didn't enjoy while 10 other great things happened! Speak with the Camp Coordinator on site; there is often more to the story. Refunds are not issued for this reason.
Payments can be made by email transfer to payments@sparklabcamp.ca.
As a not-for-profit organization, SparkLab Camp does not have a formal subsidy program — our fees are already set at cost. However, we do accept funding from any organization that wishes to assist families. Please reach out to us at info@sparklabcamp.ca if you'd like to discuss options.
